Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) is een van de meest gebruikte sociale auditprogramma's en biedt een compilatie van de beste ethische audittechnieken. Het biedt een wereldwijd erkende manier om verantwoorde activiteiten in de toeleveringsketen te beoordelen, inclusief arbeidsnormen, gezondheid en veiligheid, het milieu en bedrijfsethiek. SMETA is ontwikkeld door het Sedex Stakeholder Forum (de SSF) en ontworpen voor leveranciers om één audit met meerdere klanten te delen, om aan meerdere klantvereisten te voldoen en dubbel werk bij ethische audits te verminderen.
Elke SMETA-audit heeft een unieke referentiecode om ervoor te zorgen dat de SMETA-audit correct wordt gevalideerd. De referentiecode voor de audit van Dilmah betreft 2020LKZAA410809412 .
Dilmah werd geauditeerd door SGS in overeenstemming met SMETA Best Practice Guidance en SMETA Measurement Criteria, die betrekking hadden op vier pijler auditvereisten, waaronder arbeidsnormen, gezondheid en veiligheid, het milieu en bedrijfsethiek.
De reikwijdte van deze ethische audit was in strijd met de ETI-basiscode, universele rechten met betrekking tot UNGP, managementsystemen en code-implementatie, verantwoorde werving, recht op werk en immigratie, onderaanneming, het milieu en bedrijfsethiek.
